About Ed

My inspiration to write my first fiction story and see it published began on the beach in Monterey, California in 1980. I was a young captain attending the Naval Postgraduate School. On that day I was trying to figure out how Muslim terrorists could talk teenage fighters into committing suicide by blowing themselves up. I concluded that if America ever faced a Muslim commander trained as American soldiers are, like myself, then that would be a very bad day for our country.

It started here. Lover’s Point in Pacific Grove, CA

I went on to lay out a storyline for a series of thrillers leading up to such an event. That led to releasing my original hardback as Gold Rush 2000. (Released later as a paperback under the title Gold Lust.) After my second thriller Gold Raid was written and published, I was writing the third book where a mastermind would attack a strategic objective in America in order to change the war. He would mass the necessary war material at the needed time and place, and send in a trained tactical team to execute the attack that they had practiced many times before arriving at the objective.

What I theorized became real on September 11th, 2001 when the Trade Towers in New York City were destroyed. That day a set of strategic targets were attacked by a tactical team of 19 men that had trained on aircraft simulators. The plan converted available passenger planes into flying bombs, which were flown into each tower and into the Pentagon. It was a very bad day for America. Osama Bin Laden’s plan to attack the heart of America with a team of suicide bombers succeeded and over 3,000 Americans died.

After the FBI began warning the public to watch out for other attacks, one of which I had in my draft novel, I decided that I could not release that story. I knew too many national vulnerabilities. So I tossed that draft and started a different story, Gold Fire.

I hope you enjoy my Gold Lust series, written by a military officer with expertise stretching from the foxhole into space. Telling a tale about an American soldier who returns from fighting overseas, falls in love and eventually helps stop a nuclear missile attack on America.
