There was no turning back on 10 January 49 BCE, when Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon River with his legion of soldiers. That act started a civil war between the forces of Caesar and the forces of Pompey. Caesar championed the common people. Pompey championed the ruling elite class.
Similarly, since 2016 Americans have witnessed and participated in a struggle between the Donald Trump forces versus the Hillary/Biden/Pelosi forces. Trump has championed “America first”, law enforcement, family values, along with keeping and expanding jobs for working people of all races. While Hillary/Biden/Pelosi have championed the power of their political party and keeping their entrenched ways of doing business among the elected elites.
I worry that on Dec 11, 2020, that the U.S. Supreme Court moved America to the edge of a political Rubicon. The court did this by not considering to review the Texas filing claiming four other states violated “their own state laws, and thereby the U.S. Constitution”. More worrisome is that the highest court will lead the country across the American Rubicon if it will not consider reviewing what the Trump lawyers say is evidence of constitutional violations that allowed massive fraud in the last election.
The constitution specified elected legislators must establish each state’s election laws and procedures to avoid fraud to one party or another. However, Pennsylvania did not legislate voting changes before the 2020 Presidential election.
By the U.S. Supreme Court sanctioning changing state elections laws by any non-elected Tom, Dick, and Mary in four states (Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin) — ignores the constitutional requirement that each state’s “legislature” must establish its voting laws. And that sanctioning swings the ballot box open to future voting fraud.
And if the Supreme Court allows that to happen, there will be no turning back. America will be changed. The controlling power of the people’s vote will disappear while the elites establish what is best for them instead of what is best for the public.
That will harm everyone, no matter what political party they support.
